What is Iyengar Yoga?

The Iyengar method of yoga is named after the yoga teacher Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar. The teaching helps you focus on correct alignment of the body in poses ensuring you’re working safely, with maximum benefit to your flexibility, strength and wellbeing. Props, such as blocks and belts, are used to allow those with less strength or flexibility to work correctly and achieve their full potential.

"I have practised Iyengar Yoga for over 30 years and have been qualified as an Iyengar Yoga Teacher since 2005. I'm now a Level 3 teacher. I love living and teaching yoga on the beautiful Yorkshire Coast and I am passionate about the benefits yoga can bring to general health and wellbeing. Come along on a Yorkshire Coast Yoga Holiday and experience the warm friendly atmosphere (maximum 10 guests for individual attention)."

Delicious vegetarian food....

"Out of this world! Varied and of good quality."

"Absolutely fab & delicious!"

We all have our meals together provided by our fabulous vegetarian cook, Katy, who has been vegetarian for over thirty years. She was the proprietor of Bridlington’s first vegetarian café, Bean There, followed by the award winning Ethical Catering Outdoors and, last but not least, The Little Organic Bakery. Katy’s food has nourished and delighted thousands of customers over the past 18 years.

Organic and sustainable growing continues to be the bedrock of her cooking, with continuous exploration of the rich stock of exciting vegetarian cuisines from around the world.

Katy uses whole, unprocessed ingredients in all of her cooking.

Everything she serves has been lovingly made by her from scratch promoting health through natural wholefoods consisting of: fresh organic fruit and vegetables; whole grains and nuts; organic dairy products; beans and lentils; plant-based oils; mild sweeteners including molasses, maple syrup and unrefined sugar; spices such as cinnamon, basil, coriander, ginger and turmeric.

Al her recipes such as "Roasted mini squash with red & white bean chilli, served with brown rice, crunchy salad & green leaf salad"  or "spiced apple cake with apple and vanilla maple topping" can be very satisfactorily adapted for vegans and guests who are gluten, dairy free or have other specific dietary requirements.
